Harcum College & Haiti Relief Efforts; What YOU Can Do
The Harcum College community is currently spearheading two initiatives to support Haiti relief efforts. If you can, please take the time to contribute to one or all three of the following Harcum-sponsored events.
Option 1: Student Government Association Food Drive
The SGA food drive will benefit school children in Haiti through the work of Konbit Pou Edikasyon:
After traveling to Haiti, a group of law students formed Konbit Pou Edikasyon (KPE), which in Haitian Creole means “Working Together for Education.” KPE’s goal is to help Haiti's children by providing them the opportunity to attend school. KPE provides a satisfactory education, living allowances, school supplies, uniforms, food, medical care, and any other resources—to ensure that children are able to function at the same level as their peers. Please support SGA’s efforts with a donation of a nonperishable food item (packaged foods that don’t require refrigeration). You can donate packaged tuna, cereal bars, dry cereal, crackers, pasta, rice, dried fruit, and nuts. Note: Canned foods will be accepted, but boxed items are preferred.
Drop boxes are located in Klein Hall, Mellville Hall and the Academic Center.
Option 2: First Aid Supplies Collection
Much needed first aid items, towels, hand sanitizer/wipes, Tylenol and hygiene products for men, women and children are being collected by the Educationa Support Services department. All items will be donated to the Missionary department of the Resurrection Community Church in Philadelphia, PA, and shipped to Haiti. All donations from the community can be dropped off at the Educational Support Services department on the second floor of the Academic Center.
