Submitting Your Application
* Please submit all items together in one complete packet (Applications will not be reviewed without ALL supporting documents).
All applicants to Harcum College should submit the following:
- A completed Harcum College Application form
- Official high school transcript and/or official GED transcript
- Official college transcripts (if applicable)
- SAT Scores
- A writing sample or personal essay (2 page maximum; 1.5 spaced)
- Letter(s) of recommendation from an employer, teacher, or guidance counselor
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores - all applicants, regardless of citizenship, who have not attended school in the United States at the secondary level for at least three years, fulltime, or do not have a degree from an accredited United States college or university must present paper-based TOEFL or internet TOEFL scores
- $50 Application fee
Additional Requirements for Selected Programs
Electroneurodiagnostics
In addition to the general admission requirements, Electroneurodiagnostics applicants should also submit the following:
- Essay- "Why I Chose Electroneurodiagnostics Technology as a Career"
- Two (2) Letters of Recommendation (one from current employer/clinical site; the other can be from a teacher, guidance counselor or personal reference. Must be current)
- Verifiable six months clinical experience and/or supervision provided by a R. EEG T.
- Signed Clinical Affiliation Contract
Nursing Program (All Track Options)
In addition to the general admission requirements, Nursing applicants should also submit the following:
- Professional Resume
- Essay- "Why I Chose Nursing As My Career" (typed;1.5 inch spacing; 2 page max)
- Two (2) Letters of Recommendation on professional letterhead
- Original Child Abuse History Clearance (dated within year of application)
- Original Criminal Clearance Check (dated within year of application)
Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Essay - "Why I Want to Enroll in Harcum’s Occupational Therapy Assistant Program"
- Proof of at least ten (10) hours of volunteer hours or work experience in an Occupational Therapy setting
Physical Therapy Assistant
- Essay- A typed essay describing how the applicant would define physical therapy, how the applicant decided to become a physical therapist assistant, and how the applicant sees his/herself practicing in the field of physical therapy in the future.
- Proof of at least twenty (20) hours of volunteer hours or work experience in a Physical Therapy department.
Pre-Nursing (Recent High School Graduates ONLY)
- Two (2) Letters of Recommendation on Professional Letterhead
- Resume
- Original Child Abuse Clearance
- Original Criminal Clearance
Radiologic Technology
- Proof of Shadowing Experience (all applicants are required to shadow a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting for 8 hours)
Prerequisites for Admission to Select Programs
Allied Health Sciences (All Track Options)
Completion of the following courses with a “C” or better on a high school level or college equivalency (if applicable):
- Algebra I & II
- Biology with Lab
- Chemistry
Electroneurodiagnostics
- Online students must have verifiable six months clinical experience and or supervision provided by a R. EEG T.
- Applicants must participate in a shadowing experience (4 hours with an Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist
- Interviews with Program Director are required
Dental Assisting
Completion of the following courses with a “C” or better on a high school level or college equivalency (if applicable):
- College Preparatory Math
- Biology
Dental Hygiene
Completion of the following courses with a “B” or better on a high school level or college equivalency (if applicable):
- Algebra I & II
- Biology with Lab
- Geometry
- Chemistry
Nursing Program (All Track Options)
ALL General Education courses must be completed PRIOR to admission: * BIO103 Human Anatomy and Physiology I * BIO104 Human Anatomy and Physiology II BIO205 Microbiology ENG101 English Composition I ENG102 English Composition II MTH113 College Mathematics PSY111 Introductory Psychology PSY156 Human Development SOC109 Introduction to Sociology HUM Humanities Elective *Both courses must be completed at the same time Occupational Therapy Assistant
Completion of Biology with a “C” or better on a high school level or college equivalency (if applicable). Physical Therapy Assistant
Interviews with Program Director are required. Pre-Nursing (Recent High School Graduates ONLY)
- Minimum 2.5 weighted GPA and 900 SAT
- High School Algebra I & II
- High School Biology with Lab
- High School Chemistry with Lab
- 3 Units of High School Social Science
- 4 units of High School English
- Accuplacer Testing- Testing into Math 100 & English 101
