Mindes Dorlean, Assistant Women's Soccer Coach
Mindes—or “Mendez”—Dorlean came to Harcum in January, 2010 to work as the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach alongside Head Coach Jean Senat. Originally from Haiti, Mendez has been playing soccer since he was 3-years-old and holds vast counseling and social service experience. A December, 2009 graduate of Brescia University in Owensboro, KY, Mendez is ready to coach, work with students, and make a difference in his community.
Before Harcum, Mendez was playing men’s soccer at Brescia University and served as a part-time employee at the Owensboro YMCA , working as a building supervisor, personal trainer and after school counselor. Mendez also spent some time as a juvenile delinquent counselor at the Mary Kendall Home in Owensboro.
Having played soccer since early childhood, Mendez made the national team in Haiti at the age of 16. He moved to the United States in 2002 to pursue an education, and ended up playing college-level soccer at a community college in New jersey as well as his alma mater, Brescia University, where he later transferred.
Dedicated to helping others, Mendez has volunteered his services with the Tacachale Disability Center in Gainsboro, FL, the Owensboro Block Party Community Services, and the National Association of Social Work.
Mendez’s main goals at Harcum include helping to develop individual team members—first as people, then as successful soccer players—and starting the Women’s Soccer team on a path to success.
