HARCUM COLLEGE LIBRARY

Harcum College Library offers instructors with the opportunity to place materials on Reserve for their students. Course reserves include books, journal articles, class assignments, copies of review board examinations, videos, audio cassettes, and other pertinent information.

Reserve materials may be checked out to students for use in the Library only unless an instructor specifies otherwise. Reserve materials are kept behind the Circulation Desk. Students will need a Library card to check out Reserve materials. The standard checkout policy is two hours for in-Library use. The Library has a TV/VCR/DVD player, a cassette player, and small slide viewer to allow students to view audiovisual materials properly.

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material (http://www.copyright.gov/title17/). Also, use of reserve materials must be made in compliance with the "fair use" provisions of Section 107 (http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html).

Since the Harcum College Faculty Handbook clearly states that the individual faculty member, and not the Library, is responsible for copyright compliance in regards to academic reserves, the Library requires the faculty's signature on this form.
