Held on April 23, the 2012 Student Leadership Awards recognized the achievements of some 35 Harcum students in academics and student leadership. Over 40 family members and friends attended the ceremony. Hosted by Dean of Student Life Dr. George Thornton, the program included the Nursing Program Recognition Award, Montgomery/Bucks EFDA Award, the SADHA Scholarship, Veterinary Technology Leadership Award, Student Support Services Recognition, Educational Support Center Recognition, Residence Life Recognition, SGA Leadership Recognition/Student Lobby Day Recognition, and the Who's Who in American College and Universities Awards.

Guest Speaker Steven Lewis, Executive Director and CEO of Head Start in Montgomery County, identified for the students his five personal markers for success in life and in one's career: ambition, confidence, energy, focus and work ethic. He illustrated each marker with a story or personal anecdote that demonstrated the importance of planning and organization in all life's endeavors. Montgomery County Head Start offers pre-school services to 530 children in the county. It has been recognized by the Norristown Times-Herald as "the best preschool program in Montgomery County."
